Moment of epiphany

·Dreams

When the flame of anger burns And your insides start to crumble in On themselves While the light around you slowly dims I look at the fragile form in my sight Beholding the scars and deformities Realising the obvious truth That I have obnoxiously continued to hide Your hands lend support While your heart beats in colours Violet, orange, red, deep dark blues Like veins of blood sending mixed signals The tears form behind your skin Your face crumbles in on itself But only on the inside As your organs continue to be extradited out of your body A hole forms inside you Stabs of pain every time you move Reminders of the home that once housed souls Now lies on the operating theatre Your last born a reject A mass of blood and muscles Representation of the duty you have chosen as a mother Now a barren mess to be disposed off And I sit here beside you Beholding your pain masked Serenely by copious amounts of drugs You were once my home I was formed inside your now infected organs The first abide where my limbs stretched Now limp and pathetic on a silver bowl Your eyes strained with the effort of comprehension My tongue tied with words I’m too afraid to offer My hands remain at my sides Afraid to reach out and comfort you For fear of stringing the wrong letters out And spelling another disaster You lie in pain struggling to move your head And when you finally open the shutters on your eyes Your first instinct was to offer me comfort Looking out for my health When I am here today standing tall My body allowing me full use of my organs Supporting my head steady on my shoulders And my limbs ready to move It’s those moments of horror and sadness That finally reminded me that we are all humans
