Internal scars you cannot see As you cut another into me I carry on as you watch me bleed Each falling drop a tainted seed I will carve my name into the frozen earth To remind the world I am more than the image of hurt Or the stain of my birth, The songs I sing will be different now, Carried on the wind to the hearths all over this town, I made it somehow Dangers around, the stranger is me From this dark town, I’ll never be free Fractured dreams litter the ground, That kindred face will never be found I will bleed my soul into the bitter air To paint their eyes with my name that’s living in fear, But still wants to care, I will take each slur as a slice of the blade Bleeding me slowly ‘til my debt for existing is paid It’s how I was made
