I do not understand (although I desperately try) What I see must be at least partially a lie. Should I accept what is as totality? Is this all there is to reality? Are we the standard or the exception? Are we the main attraction or just a deception? There must be something else with more substance than this For I am sure my judgment is not amiss. Is this how it was supposed to be? Were we really destined to adopt all that we see? Somewhere things must have gone wrong For this cannot be how it was all along. No stars to guide me are left in my gaze— Snuffed out by the thickening haze. You are all drawn to the safety of the swarm, While the rest of us die—lost in the storm. This is not how it was supposed to be! They tried to categorize and quantify normality. Are things really what they seem? Or is this just some detestable dream? Still, I continue to wander aimlessly about Hoping someone will show me the way out, When at last I see a lighthouse shining on the shore, Rescuing me from my relentless pursuit of more.
