my featherless friend
Within the lips And sweet embrace Of dying embers On her skin, Came a light As pure as sin That shone brightly In her eyes. In pearls and oceans Of deep marine; The blue of her soul Swam. Damned with lust And eager love The pumping of My heart Rang. Delicate porcelain Coated skin Softly draped In an aura of delectable Dreams Drove my longing Bursting at the Seams. You sang to me in Melody, Not with words but In Tragedy, Of everything that Haunts you. Compositions And omissions Leaped from your tongue Like the aching song of A mockingbird… Soaring from within you. And at last glimpse of your failing wings I came to understand That Angels don’t need feathers To fly; And happiness Is on demand.
