My Heart is Broken

I am speechless, my heart is broken Mankind has once again let us down The depravity and wickedness of man has visited our neighbors from a nearby town. A senseless and cowardly act has been committed My words cannot express or even explain An egregious act that will never be forgotten The killer had no remorse, only hate and disdain. Children who were at the prime of their lives and who were the parents pride and joy They lost their lives from some heinous act Because of the hatred of an 18-year old boy. These families lives will never be the same Their whole world has completely changed The children whom they deeply loved are gone And the life they knew has been radically rearranged. This country seems to be hurting over this shooting But sadly, there has been a lot of talk but no action taken Why is it our lawmakers are sitting on this issue When will they open their eyes, when will they awaken?
