My love for you, fair maiden

My love for you, fair maiden has grown cold Its joy freezes my insides The smile I feign When I see you nigh Thaws my icy lips with pain My love for you, fair maiden has burnt out Its warmth I no longer feel Cupid's blaze Has blackened my heart Like Jesse* on one fine day My love for you, fair maiden is over An epilogue written with patience As fate decides which journey to start I embrace time To show me her way My love for you, fair maiden is dead Its memories lie stiff in a grave All I have Is this epitaph intact I loved you once, fair maiden Jesse* = A community in Ethiope Local Government Area (Delta State), Nigeria which suffered a fatal fire accident in 1998
