My Shell

·Quraz

I heard you ask where I go when I close my eyes, when my face is calm, my breathing slow and a gentle smile rests on my lips. Peace takes me in its hold and tries to drag me under as sounds merge into each other until all I hear is your voice whispering sweet colours into my minds eye, telling me that all will be alright and I believe you, or I did at one stage And I remember you asking where I go to when I sleep what dreams tempt, torment and sooth me and I tried to tell you, really I tried but I could sense, I could see that you weren’t listening as you idly ran your fingers through my hair humming some ancient tune from our youth a lost look on your blind, tear streaked face hollow eyes, staring through me, through the shell I left behind
