My Tortured Soul (revised

Short are the chains that bind me here, But strong and cruel to cause me fear. I tremble as the whip draws near, But nay my spirit shall not be moved, For in the way of life I've grooved A path for myself to walk though crude. It is my path and it defines me. It helps me walk true over the frenzied sea That we call life. Now i can be Unwavering as the whip toward me falls. As these chains hold me i will not call Out for mercy. No! For i will my all Give to be myself. Although i bend, And my brain says surrender my heart wont give in. For my spirit is strong and i will win! i revised some of the puntuation and wording and capitalization. please tell me anything else i can do to improve it. i originally had it in stanzas but when i have it as complete sentences with puntuation it would seperate one part of a sentence from another or it would split a thought in half.
