As I sit in my office I find my mind wondering to the dunes of the Namib desert. I feel the red sand on my bear feet warm and soft. I can see the Gemsbok standing under a tree moving with the shade in this extreme heat. The burned out trees in the salt pans. Salt pans that was once filled with diamonds. I go to dune 49 and start to climb. All the way to the top and I find myself in ecstasy with the beauty that surrounds me. I see green trees and I feel the soft benguela breeze. As the sun sets I see the colors playing on the horizon with red, orange, yellow and a dash of pink. The silhouette of trees and gemsbok on the dunes takes my breath away. The side winder snake making his way under the warm sand for the cold night. Everything in its place, I find my heart filled with grace. Then everything turns black but still a bright light. You can see the milky way every little star. I see the warm camp fire from miles away, and I start to make my way down dune 49 and my heart sinks away. Oh how I wish I could stay!
