Never the Same

and in the quietness of an evening's sigh when a whisper could be construed as yelling, do your thoughts turn my way, or, am I just a romantic fool caught up in my own serial delusion skipping to the sound of this music in my head, over and over and over again ... when the roar of the evening rush breaks the sound of speed and joyous laughter rings loud in a crowded restaurant, glancing at the couple there, in the next booth do you think of me? or am I just a convenient memory tucked inside a faithless heart, here when you need always expectantly we walk forward in time, always forward nearer each day to our allotted departure, will we have a reason to know this gift of us before the sun fails to rise on that not too distant shore and we sail to parts unknown never to return, never the same as the midnight drift sifts our name...
