Nothing Ever Changes

Iv seen people smoke crack in my bathroom and threaten to mug me at night. In the morning they barred me from my kitchen. Iv been crushed by giant fridges and consented to rape. Later I froze my ass off in the ATM machine while the bums slept next to me. I plotted world domination Then traveled around the wasteland and nearly exploded myself While cruel branches rained on me under the new moon. I plotted a modest existence Then traveled around paradise and communed with the spirits And nearly exploded myself again. I was safe at home but the people shunned me. I was doomed in the promised lands but the people embraced me. I was outwitted by all the lesser minds again and again And nothing ever changed. I’m a slave Who’d like to live in the future but my master won’t let me. Instead I toil in the moment, Safe but unsatisfied, Condemned to bear the dread of unknown inevitability And the sorrowful vividness of a prize just out of reach. All the wisdom and good advice in the world is useless when you’re missing the will to use it. P.S. sorry about the double spacing, I don't know what's up with that.
