Object Poem - Property of the Republic

I am Andrew Ian Gove, South African citizen. A small green book contains my life, my identity. More than you could ever wish to know can be found with one number. One number in a system. One of millions, billions. But I am not just a number. I am human. Novels of my life should be written, movies made. I deserve my own praise singer. To triumph in my glory. I am unique. I am Andrew Ian Gove. Andrew – the name my Father gave me Ian – the name of my Grand Father Gove – the name of my Ancestors. I AM the oldest son. I AM Gove. Yet with out the book I’m lost, a non-entity. With out that book I don’t exist, as if I never was. That’s why I know how cattle feel Objects to be owned and exploited. For you see, I am branded too, Property of the Republic.
