Ode to an Arthritic

Ode to an Arthritic “Get up! Get up! Get out of Bed!” Scream startling thoughts within my head. “You need to clean the dishes”! “You need to do the wash”! “Get up”, it said,” there’s not a maid… my gosh!" I try to budge my body up, and then I hear a voice My barrel, buddy body ,really wants a choice. I recognize my body… It’s crying out in pain, "Don't make me move a muscle, I can’t stand this again!” While my mind fights body, war begins to take place, The contortions I go through are quite a disgrace. I grovel to get upright. I’m barely fit to stand. I know for sure my bully mind, is in command. Give me the strength tosweep up the whole floor Just give meendurance to mop, dust and more. My body will not work It’s like a rusty screw How can I ever try , to do what I should do? My body grumbles grossly, I’m really pain sweptnow . I grab the wash and through it, try to and plow I wash and dry and fold It's reallygreat to see, The war of mind and body raging inside me. I lean on the counter to wash up dirty dishes I defiantly make a few wizardly wishes. Take me to the store… Letmy back not be sore… Trump the toxic and terrible pain I endure. I’ve made it through the day,it’snearlytimeforbed. I cannot wait to rest my weary, working head! I’m on my own last nerve! So drag me to the bath… Twill drain from me this nasty, nagging wrath....!

I am a Registered Nurse.. I have loved writing for as far back as I can remember. My first writing was experienced by drawing as a child. In 7th grade I wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln that won an award and was read on the radio in Salt Lake City....
