Of Life and Death

Words were hushed by the gales 'round Crackles of light, the clouds did howl, On this destined night, Death softly knocked For thy soul was his, in silence locked. “I have no more songs to sing,” soft-echos roared, thy words did ring “Where have I heard this before?” Clocks all shrieked, I fell through floors. Tumbling through Life’s ghastly veils, My soul paused not, no words detail'd What Muse could sing to thy ears delight? No fervid bliss, Nor hellish fright. I was of, and in, the vivid stars rapturous; snapping back the bars that Life had so horribly maintain'd all souls lay 'round; none in pain. Ecstasy eluded thy reasoned lips, the breath came husk, and tears did drip But from whose eyes did thee cry? Rattled awake, I gasped out, “Why?!”
