Oh Lady in Brown
Oh lady in brown, so shy, so sweet, So why do you hide behind a tree? With just one eye you gaze upon - A world so dire for you to see. From under your shawl I see you peek, What brings you here? - a dame so true! Across the void I glance and muse, Demure you are, and pretty too. Oh lady in brown, so shy, so cute, Where next for you in a world so grim? Is life for you encupped, constrained, A mug of horror filled to the brim? My pretty girl, so be aware, Your life is on a slippery slope; You wink, blink and sink to the floor, And there you forfeit all your hope. Oh lady in brown, so shy, so meek, You were my friend, I knew so well; And in the mug you lay so drained - But now’s the time to say farewell. This poem was written following the draining of a breakfast cup of coffee. What was left seemingly showed a young woman in a shawl hugging a palm tree trunk with just one eye peeking round the edge. The rest is in the poem…… A pity we can’t include the photograph!

Love creativity - especially writing - poems especially. Love my wife, cats, our church, reading, warm weather (so rare here!) and snow - quite common these days - even in spring....
