Old Boy
Did you open your eyes in this moment, my boy? Did you take note of all of the beautiful things? Of the primordial creation that hung in the sky By either cloud and leaf or moon and mountain Your eyes could never have their fill of seeing What was dead on the outside lived within Reality tasted some experience through you It bore witness to the existence of this plane But the mind grew dim as the years increased The soft and still colors that dusk had painted After the rain storm went down with the sun Smelled of the air that binds upon the strings The awe and wonder of youth were replaced then By the raw sentiments that bloomed in old age And your shoulders shook with sob and laughter In short birthdays that were counted by hands Old boy, you had grown older but your inventions Stood the test of time and set the world alight You died as a lonely pauper in some hotel room But in your name the world in darkness shines
