Oliver And The Old Hag

·Mental Journey

On a woodland hike deep in the trees He saw a woman down on her knees He offered his help, asked if she’s alright, Kneeling in the soft evening light She was helping a bird, fallen from its nest She held the bird close to her chest Cradling it’s wing stood up slow “I have to get this bird home” He carried her bag and matched her pace Noticing how she hid her face, She had boney limbs and walked slow A mole on her cheek an a big hooked nose At an old log cabin, she set the bird’s bone And promised not to leave it alone, He put her bag down and walked away Then looked around and stopped to say “There are some things I can help with If it’s okay with you If you need cleaning, or something fixed Just tell me what to do,” He came back each day to help around Fixed her porch and tilled the ground While she made lunch and tea And cookies with faces that were funny One day they talked about the yard He noticed she let down her guard, He said she deserved a place so grand Then called her beautiful and took her hand She recoiled and said don’t lie to me I know what I look like, I know what you see He smiled as she turned red Then softly grabbed her hand and said “True beauty is not something you see Time passes and looks will fade But the kind person I’ve seen you be, Is a beauty nothing can take away.

Mental Journey

I am on a journey of the mind. Contemplating the universe on every scale, and doing a complete introspective exploration. I may never be a literary academic, but I share my humble thoughts in hope that they may inspire others.
