Opening My Eyes

I Once again to never. Though a fortune of beautiful sights abound, they collect in a torrent of falling pennies to which I bestow indifference. II I look for darkness. Not a single, but a pair of black buttons for my gaze to push, large enough for the irises to become halos shrinking from shared silence. III To no one looking upon me. I am not invisible, but a fortune amassed as a jar full of pennies gathered piece by piece from under cushions, moved furniture, the dirty ground, and all the places little things go to hide from the big world. IV To sigh. It is all I have to reluctantly give in this moment. I meant to keep it in my shaded lungs but they have forced it out. V Still waiting for love.
