Orbs of Violet

·TheNightShift

In the ward inside a hospice The sad old man is fading fast He’s thinking of the wife he had Who died those many years past He thinking of their love so sweet Her name is on his dying breath Her picture clutched in his hand He slips dreamily into death Suddenly his eyes are opened He sees rotating violet orbs Midst the pastel coloured fluid Into which he has been absorbed Shiny incandescent bubbles Slowly turn in the violet light Brushing gently with each other Drifting away into the night He realises what has happened Knows that he’s now one of them He feels serene and full of peace He hears a soft played requiem Then he sees one delicate sphere That descends on him from above Inside it he can see her face So familiar and full of love Their bubbles cling together Suspended in the violet haze He whispers how he’s missed her Since the end of their happy days The he wraps himself around her And they merge to become as one Together in their world of love For all eternity to come
