Papa
If Papa was here he would know what to do Papa would always tell us his point of view He would put everything back together again There was no need to call the local handyman. Papa taught us how to work hard for our money Not to rely on free handouts from just anybody. He was a proud man that wanted the best for us Papa never complained or had much to discuss. Papa knew that the fields were hard work for us He would tell us to study hard cuz this was tough There were times I could see him somewhat depressed But he held back his feelings, which he had to suppress. Papa would never show his hurt feelings to just anyone Because he did not want to worry his daughters and sons In his suffering, he was still a strong, proud, Mexican man Who loved his family more than any father ever can. Papa did not have much schooling growing up in 1924 He got to 3rd grade but deep down inside he wanted more Since he was not able to accomplish his life goal. He prayed that his children would take over that role. Papa is not here now, he has gone on to his heavenly home But he is in good company, my mother would not leave him alone When making decisions we remember his counsel and advice. So every day we thank the Lord for making our Papa so wise!
