Paranoia's Repression

Repression By: Nathan Umbriano We live a life of paranoia, guided by society, Hypocritically stating, every minute, How we live to the beat of our own drum, But yet, inside we thrive for social acquiescence, For without it you are out casted. Out casted; pushed away; blocked out, Blocked out because you broke away from the preverbal “crowd”, You showed independence, a shimmer of hope in a dark sky, But after a while you realize how much you want approval from your peers, Tired of ridicule you begin to climb the fence of imprisonment, Clawing your way out of the grave of social awkwardness you were forced into. So what is the point of liberty? If you are a prisoner to the law named society, Forced to live a conformist’s life; to go against your beliefs, All to be accepted; to be happy But what is happiness if the actions you must commit to be happy make you unhappy? Unhappy. Miserable. Repressed. So an ultimatum you must face, Be a slave of society, Of be out casted to live alone.
