Path of Thorns
I also walked through That fabled wood And saw two paths, One clean and wide Well travelled And nothing learned but scenery. Unwise I was to think That the path of thorns, Dark and twisting, Was the one for me, Thinking I could walk alone And suffer the pain In silence. I had no forethought You would walk in behind Trying to hold my hand And keep me safe, Where I tried to make you go back And walk free into bliss. I lost you in the briars Among the shadows and leaves And I am still looking for you And wishing that I had chosen The path most travelled.
