Patriotic platforms

I’m looking out looking in and I don’t recognise it at all. Ghostly memories haunt and hang like faces at windows, blurred in a lens. Distant memories loom back into focus - a long, pale-blue dress, white polka dots and pearl buttons. Smile, say cheese! Patriotic platforms, a song, a dance and smoke from the battleships obscuring my view across the water. And Tony and moon-rock and Tiger bread; boxes of Weekend - God what happened to them? My absolute favourites! And if you stop and think, things get dredged up and it feels rather strange and sometimes it’s better to live in the now ‘cos if you look either side that’s when you lose your balance and sense of direction. And there ain’t no purpose in that.
