Petrified
Skyscrapers, concrete Crack rocks and burnt Peet’s He used to be a kid like you He had a mom and dad Soon enough the hope was gone Sun to fluorescent, toys to scum No one but himself to talk to He is deaf to the city sounds On the bus he howls and reeks Speaking of promises no one keeps And he is still yelling Sitting against a street post His cigarette, still unlit.
