Phantom

Why have you left pieces of yourself behind, like a wraith you linger in my soul Your face smiles back at me from the pillow, when I open my heavy eyes in the morning Strong hands roam my body, when I am flooded by feelings of lust Your body reclined serenely on the couch as I watch our favourite shows I hear your voice whisper to me on the cool breeze and I hear your song in the rain Your blue eyes glare back at me whenever I steal a glance at the times we captured on film A discarded jersey hangs lifeless in my cupboard, filling the space with your heady scent Crumpled paper retrieved from the trash holds the thoughts you penned for me You still haunt me even though you are no longer near Every where I turn you are there, I can hear, smell and taste you The memories are breathtaking and my heart constricts with each new recollection Phantom of my heart, why do you haunt my life after your complete form has departed.
