Piano Lesson

·guntree

Old Green field crossed with Winter frost Limousin cows mourning cold in the corner I trot up to Mrs Murrays house She waits inside with non-verbal brilliance She sits lightly at the piano Her artistry finely balanced And how are you this week Jimmy? Then her piano goes tong tang tong tang tang tang As I batter out Scherzo.. clang bang clang dullness Until we share a moment of knowing satisfaction The stool underneath me steady and firm And then out into the cold night I am leaving Somehow broken airy and open Someday I will find the home I once found in there With old Mrs Murray.
