Rain of Hope
After the scorching summer Among the unrelenting gashes on mother earth To liven up the warm Lazy winds going about nowhere, You come down like nothing but yourself; Pure pearls of freshness cascading from the sky, The Rain of Hope. After a day’s hard toil and labour, Among sweat and pain, hunger and loss, To light up a smile of tomorrow on their faces, You come down like a string of memories, A pile of postcards, an old photograph, The Rain of Hope. After a week of trying assessments, Among the tired and overused little brains, To spark the Joy and Laughter of Play, You come down like a heap of holidays, A group of friends, an old ball and a broken bat; The Rain of Hope. After a life in hopelessness, Among the depths in the heart of the waiting soul, To end the endless wait for contentment, You come down like an angel, A sparkling mocking smile, inviting eyes, The Rain of Hope. After a life of many lives, Among the old and the uncared for, To sow the seed of life again, You come down like an old passion; A forgotten love, an ancient friend, a new playmate; The Rain of Hope!
