The Romans made the roads we know, a chariot was their way to go. One wheel just would never do, the chariot required two. To space them exactly from the start, they had to measure how far apart. They were able to decide, the width would be two horses wide. Those ruts the wheels made in the road, determined the track size, it is told; for all the trains we ride today. Two horse' s rears showed us the way.
