Recalcitrant no more
How could I think that I could fight You? me, a fool who thought himself a sage Immersed myself in knowledge did I … all of man’s inventions, intentions civilizations lost, forgotten … found The worlds mentioned in whispers my scheme, this plan of mine elaborate I never thought You stood a chance Knowledge became my new god My only god … I lived for knowledge and Knowledge only but not of You men came to me only to be humbled Yes I hand picked my victims well men glassy eyed in defeat and shame a peacock of the intellects was I theologians fell, mere pawns on a board Men of the Cloth, Men of Faith … And I, an enlightened dark legend But growing in decay, devoid of Life And then You came, placed one Book “The Book” upon my stack of idols not as to say forget the others but rather “read this One as well” obstinate, stubborn and unyielding was I, … before You gently appeared but when You came, no shouting arguing, debates, nothing stentorian a still small voice spoke to my soul a simple message; “Follow me …” and I am recalcitrant no more …
