Refill
Back-end colour slatted across a leafy canvas. Changing lanes isn't compulsory you know. Discarded dreams lay like old hub caps at the roadside. Thinking back to where it all began, that day...a kind invitation accepted nervously. I hear the strutting clip-clop of stilettoes on pavement; it breaks my thought. Soon it will be evening. I know it's Summer time still, the poster says so...mocked by the rain as it laughs down the window panes. Would you sip coffee through a straw? A quick way to a burn; yes I think that's what she's after as she turns the page on the paperback glued to her hand (couldn't see the title) and when the end arrives will she be ready to let go? I wonder as I drain my cup and swallow the bitter dregs gladly. No thanks I don't require a refill.
