Reflected Truths

Reflected Truths My reflected eyes scowl back as I peer inside my mind through the cracked mirror I see an unfamiliar intimate I see a readiness for defeat I see a melancholy teardrop I am spellbound as I listen to the sneering vitriol fired with silent bullets of angst I struggle to turn my head but cannot break the hold of a self deprecating glare There looms in the mirror the patronising expression on the face of a stranger A pulsating thrill of dread surges swift from my loins in swirling rivulets of fear A flaming trail is blazed to massage my mortal soul with white hot tenderness A mirror’s reflected truths A turgid story of denial A bitter aftertaste of reality Heavy eyelids are drooping I grow tired, so very weary of my misshapen existence I sigh and drop onto my bed I breathe the jaundiced air The stranger mocks me still No longer though in a mirror but a spastic parasite within Gnawing holes in my faith
