Refracted Through Reflection
Stare I do, at pieces now defeated from dissection. Mirror image shows its blemish as I grieve the imperfection. Stance adjusted does no justice. Confidence rescinds to fear. (The me I thought myself to be is not the me I'm seeing here.) Conflict rises as I see me. Mirror mocks me as it stares. Here I'm calm, content, connected; There I'm broken, battered, bare. Mis-alignment is design that I no longer can deny. (Smiles plague my lying face to hide the state of my divide.) Dissonance deploys my vision. Its precision pricks my heart. Some pieces show as brightly lit; Others show as morbid dark. The harmony I thought I found is now the torment I despise. (For there will never be a truce between the truth and the disguise.) Refracted. Through. Reflection.

I seek an oasis in a world full of dust.
