Reminiscing in a Nightclub
Reminiscing in a Nightclub Stumbled I from nightclub strobes, On to the street of hardened foes, To swing and jab at dodging clocks; A crack upon my ear; In dazed disorder, boot in groin, A shove and punch I sunk to tar, Where hot wet spittle clouted neck; Implicit was my fear; Well didn’t I request all this, As instigator of the mess? Inebriated daring speech, I thought as fists flew near; So to my feet to find escape, I tried to view some route in hope, And sobered up between street lights; My beating heart to steer; The gaffe apparent in my stride; The chase was on with angry cries; A place within capacity; To Chinese diner veer; Those staring clocks at table sides, And shocked far-eastern blurry frowns; I ran behind the counter till; Do save me waitress dear; A cook in white with gleaming knife, Appeared through beads not far behind: “Get out of here! You disrespect!” Another gaffe too clear; Decision time for weakened soul; Their faces wait outside the door; Enraged the blade was closing in; I took my chances here; But when the quandary came to light, The cook’s swift gesture brushing past, The door swung open with a chime; My hero’s act so mere; They darted off with bullish angst; Attackers gone into the night; The cook returned content with task; I left with quiet cheer; And now in nightclub telling tales Of nightclub folly in young times, Remember is a must to do, Go easy on the beer.

I'm into poetry that flows through me, more as an emotional art-form than a traditional construction, but I do appreciate most of it.
