REQUIEM FOR A DOG
I wrote this poem to console my niece Jenna, who had lost her dog Misty to a car that was faster than she was REQUIEM FOR A DOG (For Jenna, and dedicated to Misty) * As I stooped to pet and greet the little black dog, she licked my hand during a rambunctious pause. She scratched her nails in unison, and so excited to see me, though she'd never met me * Then later that night the news that broke, She had met her fate by the side of the road! Terrified and alone, as she drew her last breath, her only hope then was to make it home! * But she would not be going home. No, not tonight. her life ended too soon, on that fateful night. But if God is righteous, then I believe that God, will hold a place in heaven for this little black dog. A place with no cars, where she can run free, and get back all the love, That she gave to you and me! * WordPlaya, March 2009

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry. ...
