Rich in Poverty
Leaving the house Tears of young ones Echo down the hall Slip on a coat that cost more than the rent Nothing getting paid As the bills mount up Outside a fast car May as well be on bricks Down the street Meet your mates Just like the night before and the night before Can’t get a job Just another of the faceless thousands On the Rock and Roll Ducking and diving Scraping by Not going to plan Drowning the pain Your wife used to be your girl Now your just two strangers Standing on the edge of the abyss Escape ain’t an option Back in the hall On the couch Fall into a drowsy sleep But you know you’ll be up When the booze wears off Wondering who you are Another day To do it all again
