Rules

Rules. Whose rules? Their rules and I don’t care. But then, I did agree. Driving past my favourite scene, over hill towards mountain past river to the sea, my mind wanders as I ponder previous encounters, hopes and risks. I didn’t notice as I pushed my metal machine, interrupted by the law as I daydreamed “Excuse me!” he says, “I think it’s time to stop “you need to get out and be punished “We have rules you know. “If you don’t, you will break the flow” Their rules and I don’t care. But then, I did agree so I’m really only upset with me. Returning my mechanical beast to its box I slide out and enter my domain. Hopefully something good will come today as I smell what’s home, my anger fades away. It rings, I respond - what could this message bring? I hear a voice that makes my heart sing, today the tone is different I feel something amiss, the feeling turns into words, and its not kind Remember that rule, that one of trust? Someone close found a way to break it and as it broke, so did I. Their rules and I don’t care. But I did agree so if I didn’t break it why is it breaking me? I sit down on my second skin and ponder on this fate. I have something to work with and refuse to let it turn to hate. Our rules and I do care. Fair is fair and I did agree, even though I did not plead allegiance to thee, I decided to do it for me.
