I’ve spoken to those who claim to know I've listened to those who run the show I’ve walked a mile in another's shoes I've rocked the roll and sang the blues I’ve read the books of enlightened verse Seen my friends driven away in hearse I've bit the pillow and continued to cry I've slashed my wrists and tried to die I've raised my children, made me glad Been a crap husband, friend and Dad I've lived my life and thought too much I've suffered fools , been a soft touch I've made mistakes over again I've fucked up Karma, messed with Zen I've sought redemption, tried to mend I've made excuses until the end I've not been mindful, coveted wealth Wasted life, wasted health I've read the instructions but paid no heed I’ve sinned in thought and word and deed I've made my grave in which I'll lie And all the Angels will stand and cry, We tried to guide him, make him whole But least we got to save his soul.
