Sea of Karma

·TheNightShift

In the years of baby boom I came out from the womb A product of the working class How rapidly the years did pass I found myself inside the school And straight away I broke a rule Up in the highest form I was well above the norm I sailed through examinations And lived up to all expectations As bright a boy as you could want Which didn’t stop the teachers taunt Though I did not aim to please I passed the test with ease But teachers would still criticise They tried to cut me down to size Told my folks I was running wild Don’t spare the rod and spoil the child No I did not feel the need Their orders I should heed Not complying with convention They would put me in detention And labelled me a rebel youth When I wished to tell the truth But then I played my joker In life’s game of stud poker I had a full house in my mind The dealer didn't treat me kind Thus I failed to make my grades As I was dealt the two of spades You must have a diploma So wake up from your coma That’s what everybody told me Father angry, he would scold me When I grew my hair quite long Once again they said I was wrong Now I sit here and reflect Feeling very circumspect What has been achieved years later Proved them wrong at my Alma Mater Found success without much drama As I sailed the Sea of Karma
