Shallow Breathing *revision*
radiant sunrise exposes the night’s crimes scurrying delinquents rush by. yesterday’s children avert their gaze. what a beautiful sunrise. clinging fog mingles with illicit smoke polished ladies circumnavigate the world to arrive at lavish parties. don’t ask too many questions. this is lovely china war spreads, promoting conflict rank by rank, clinging like smoke to white cloth. partial families wake early the only child asks for his brother. what empty chair? please pass the orange juice. tears and curls mingle, people gather, but one by one the crowd turns away as ocean liner slips under and the world resumes their shallow breathing.
