Shallow Wake

·Forward Enigma

Gripping a bottle of sadness in one hand and prescribed happiness in the other I lay in the center of this shotgun forest Reels of tape are draped from the trees Every living thing flees for the corroded, open wound of the earth The rebirth of this brute is imminent My innocence is gone as my lips bleed with the ignorance and blasphemy that has brought me to this place of abstract beauty, ugliness and everything in between The grass melts beneath my feet as I stand My hand shakes as the bottle gets heavy I’m ready to draw from the plastic water The viscous substance takes you to an unimaginable state of mind Kind and aware of your surroundings Drowning in the shallow wake of my custom-made nightmares Bare and blistered, I feel a whisper in my ear Fear strikes me from what I hear I steer myself away and plunge myself into the depths of this sour disconnect Collecting strands of the blotted, black memories Thanking nothing but the ignorance Fading to nothingness Guided by worry and directed by fate Fueled by redemption and driven by hate I thought there was time but now it’s too late
