SILENCE PLEASE
Silence please Leave that window ajar Let the rain-drops sip in; Riding on the eastern wind-- They bring back your memories, Awaken my spirit of yester years. They might sprinkle waters on carpet Is that a big loss, it can be dried; Why then create such hue and cry? Let them touch my face, my lips, Like you’re showering me kisses. Let me watch in rapt attention The caressing of trees by the wind, Sweeping the shores by the waves, As if all are enjoying themselves- Except me left forlorn without you. See that dove couple locking their lips In euphoric joy under the windowpane; If you shut the skylight, they will fly In the rain, losing their moment of joy; Leave me alone with your memoirs. rajkumar@kolkata 21-10-2010 rajkumar@mukherjee
