SILENT TIME COLD

SILENT TIME COLD * Her life was stolen from the inside out. Angry now, she wanted to shout! * She looked at her hands contorted with pain. Saw time passing by on an old clock face. * As they fastened her bib she lost all her taste, for gone were the days she could dine out in haste. * As most of the food Dropped from her spoon, the aids then returned to shovel it in. * They took outa towel to wipe up her chin, but it'sway past the day she even cared. * On the inside she still felt the same as always, as outside deterioration continued unabated. * As they struggled to strap her in to her chair, they talked in first person likeshe wasn't there. * Her children so busy with lives of their own, just cannot be bothered with the smell from that home * As she laughed to herself, in silent amusement, she reflected on life how it came and then went * As her family smiled from frames on the dresser they reminded her once her days had been better * She looked at the box at the foot of her bed. Of all that she owned, this was all she had left * How very ironic, she thought to herself… that a person in life should need so much else * Though grief always mourns young death over old, It’s the young that are spared this silent time cold. * Though dignity lost in death will be found, here’s hoping that life will spare one more round * WordPlaya, April 27, 2010

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry. ...
