Sing the Blues

Men and women, they still cheat, and they still like a heavy beat. My mama’s she’s well. oh yeah, oh yeah, but my father’s in hell. oh yeah, yessir. He was just a kid when he did what he did, he was just a kid when he did what he did. Now he’ll never see family, house and home. never see the world. never roam. He’ll hang with the thugs, he’ll take all the drugs, he’ll learn to hate, that’ll be his fate. It happens every day. so let the poet have his say. But if the rhyme ain’t pretty and the tune ain’t good, he might’s well get used to choppin’ wood. If I could sing, if I could dance, I’d tell the world It’s all just chance. Life ain’t necessarily good, it ain’t necessarily bad, but what it is Is lonely and sad. Lonely and sad and mean and mad, so sing the blues. got nothin’ to lose. When you a friend of the blues you know it, when you’re a friend of the blues you show it. So sing it out, sing it clear. sing it every day of the year. You live the blues, learn to love them. hmm, hmm, sing the blues.
