Single portion
Today’s a good day to eat cake; but I’m not celebrating. A shrink-wrapped portion for one. A melting moment not to be shared. A scalloped edge with unknown words watched. Cast aside reason and listen to the inner voice. If I write my thoughts and leave the note on the board will they be read by anyone who cares or understands? And I’ve eaten that slice not noticing the sweetness, only the emptiness of the packet.
