Something Like You

Steps of uncertainty, heart beats of shame, soaring emotions come with your name. Feelings intense, the good and the bad, lift up my soul and make me go mad. It's something like joy, something like pain. Something like freedom tears though my veins. Something like wings too big for my cage. Something like words that run off the page. Something like failing and winning first place. Something like vain hope our lips will embrace. Something like waiting for what won't come. Something like facing what you're running from. And now I stand here, blithe but afraid, hiding from feelings that you have made.
