Sonnet for Sandown Bay
I felt the spirit hand, your tear Acrossmy shoulders, last goodbyes through metaphor andgilded hair Aflame insolemn halting sighs. We broke each other, you and I Stood hand in hand against the sea, I framed you, windswept, silent sky In that moment, willful, free. Hours passed, the world revolved For half a turn, head rested soft Against your shoulder, we evolved From summer fling to love aloft Our final kiss; our final day, Inrock-strewn, wind-tunedSandown Bay.
