Star-gazing
Star-gazing is such a delight, Sparkling, millions of years away. Suspended in the sky so that they might be picked as shining apples from a brooding tree. But distance is just an illusion, A cruel, devious delusion. Seeming so close you’re actually very distant; One phone call might as well be a thousand miles, each mile a million steps, each step an endless struggle against despair and doubt. Yet for one sighting, one impossible encounter your smile melts all doubts, restores inner strength and breathes new life into depressed lungs. Cutting like a beacon through the night. One million years away. I will smile, breath in and wait.
