Still
The days and weeks have passed since our last meeting Memories of your face, your voice, echo not retreating Oh how you captivated me in the winter of my pain You brought me spring, bringing life with your rain The warmth of your sun, how it filled my darkest region Now the heat of summer leaves its scars, its deep lesion I could not speak of my love, a love so bright and bold I now pay the price of silence, never will you I hold Forgive me self, forgive my foolish way, my not believing The pain of loneliness is intense, unbearable, deceiving Perception is often clouded when one is filled with emotion To this love I have, I could not give my devotion Now I stand once more alone, not knowing the future I take in hand the thread and needle, the wounds to suture Except for a wound upon my heart, where blood does spill Forever bleeding, never healing for it is her I love…..still Upon the night the moon ceases to shine, I will love you When the lakes, rivers and oceans are dry, I will love you On the day when the sun rises no more, I will love you Even beyond my death these words will show I love you How I would have loved to walk with you in the snow To know this love, to let this love in my heart to grow To take you to places, to the banquets, and to the ball To the festivals, to the parks, to the fairs in fall When life is finally done, this price I pay for love not won To lie in a cold grave laid low, no friend in sight, nor even foe These my words will forever live, of a love I could not give As I lie upon that silent hill, know that of her, I love….still
