Story of a Father and Son
Story of a Father and Son [Story begins] To that child that has my heart An apple in his hands To that child that has my heart A ball between his feet To that child that if he sleeps My soul is flying a butterfly above his bed [Pause … Joy] All the stories that my memory has kept And the ones I invented from time to time It all was to make him enjoy my stay And see his smile before I go to sleep [Pause, after he sleeps] If he wakes up now and finds me He takes my heart on before his shoes And he looks at my eyes and hugs me We are unmatched father and son [Pause, long sighs] He owes me when he grows up And becomes fully a young man That I take some place and count down The days that will remain for me … To see myself in his face like a man And touch his soul like a good father [Pause, last smile] I draw all the memories of his childhood And match them with my joy of fatherhood Nostalgia of watching him playing around And painting colorful and wonderful smiles On the wall of my tired and hollow eyes [Pause, last tear] I draw his face beside my face On a picture of memories and wishes I kiss and hug the picture for the last time I extract my soul suddenly from the frame And I let him tenderness and good manners That I could rest for the rest in my after life [Stop, last wish] I pray for, him, my dear son for years I bought him a book, white papers and pencils To draw our wonderful story of a father and son On the paper of my grandson when I’m leaving To rest in peace waiting to meet him in Heaven. [Story never ends]
