Summer's Eulogy

Bright sun on thriving fields Quiet ones with much concealed Rains at night, thick and warm Tears of fright, envy or scorn Silent vows tear through time Folly's child is much alive I'd played in the open fields Felt wind upon my skin But summer's wrath is now revealed Spirit gone, alone, lonely again Late afternoon waltzed on the sidewalks Sharing their hopes sharing their doubts I'm still searching for a reason to believe That perhaps next season, that could be me Touching a hand or tasting her lips Each time I look and try to forget In vain I wish for summer's wind To rejuvenate the man within Gaze up to the cloudless skies Hoping a cloud goes racing by In vain I wish for someone's touch To reach into the deepest cries Soothe, relieve, but belief is too much As the spirit of summer says goodbye
